In order to help the family to come to an acceptable accommodation about the farm, the farmhouse and other assets, the mediator speaks to each family member confidentially to find out their ideal solution and using that knowledge can facilitate a discussion that hopefully ends with an agreement that satisfies all the relevant family members.
Frequently, disputes arise in relation to adjoining lands, the boundary which appears on the map may not reflect the boundary on the ground. These disputes can be incredibly acrimonious and the mediator can help by not only facilitating a discussion between the land owner but also by using expert mediators to help plot the new agreed boundary on the land.
